Cloud Engineer

Role Overview

As a Cloud Engineer at Fastly, you'll be a trusted technical advocate for strategic customers, helping them optimize product delivery using Fastly's edge cloud platform. You'll work on the front lines of customer adoption — linking edge computing and CDN technologies with measurable business value, while acting as an extension of the customer's own technical team.

Responsibilities

• Act as the resident Fastly architect for assigned customers, representing their needs internally
• Build deep technical relationships to understand customer infrastructure, plans, and challenges
• Handle post-sales implementation including logging endpoints, image optimization, and VCL coding
• Investigate and recommend improvements to customer implementations
• Identify opportunities to introduce new Fastly products that fit customer needs
• Participate in cadence calls, on-site meetings, and Quarterly Business Reviews
• Track and report on account health to Client Services leadership

Requirements

• 5+ years in Pre-Sales or Post-Sales — Sales Engineering, TAM, DevOps, or Solutions Architecture
• Strong networking knowledge — BGP, HTTP/S, TCP, TLS, DNS, Load Balancing, NGINX, Apache
• Hands-on Linux and scripting experience — Python, Ruby, Go, Node.js, or Perl
• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, and bare metal deployments
• Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Willingness to travel for customer meetings as needed

Good to Have

• Experience with Varnish and VCL
• Background in CDN, streaming video/audio, or e-commerce technologies
