Technical Services Engineer

Role Overview

As a Technical Services Engineer, you will work closely with customers to solve complex technical challenges across the MongoDB ecosystem. You will act as a trusted technical advisor, helping customers design, operate, and scale MongoDB deployments while ensuring performance, security, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot complex issues related to MongoDB architecture, performance, security, and recovery
• Support customers running MongoDB at scale in cloud and on-prem environments
• Analyze issues end-to-end, from application layer through database and storage
• Recommend best practices for scalability, availability, and performance
• Advocate for customer needs by collaborating with product and engineering teams
• Contribute to internal tools for diagnostics, benchmarking, and performance analysis
• Handle advanced troubleshooting and technical escalations

Requirements

• 5 to 8 years of relevant technical experience 
• Strong systems engineering background including Linux performance and memory management
• Experience with storage, I/O tuning, security, networking, and clustered systems
• Good understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as DNS, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS
• Experience diagnosing issues across application, database, and infrastructure layers
• Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI concepts and AI-assisted troubleshooting tools
• Programming experience in languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, Node.js, Go, PHP, Ruby, C, or C++
• Experience supporting production database systems
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Strong collaboration skills and willingness to seek help when needed

Success Measures

First 3 Months

• Complete new hire training
• Gain a strong understanding of MongoDB and its ecosystem

First 6 Months

• Work independently with customers in a frontline support role
• Complete the MongoDB Certified DBA Associate exam

First 12 Months

• Handle technical escalations independently
• Join an advanced technical expert group
• Support peer engineers with advanced diagnostics
